Power supply situation continued disturbing consumers by and large on Thursday amidst claims on the part of Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO) for early resumption of supply till the filing of this report. A spokesman of LESCO said that intensive fog has led to interruption in power supply that led to a gap in demand and supply. Further, he said, LESCO was not receiving power supply quota in line with its demand from the National Transmission and Despatch Company (NTDC).

It may be noted that 550 feeders of the Company tripped a day before due to smog and low production of electricity, as there was a shortage of around 2,360MW on the national grid. The LESCO spokesman said the field staff has cleaned up wires to maintain supply pressure and to avoid such technical problems due to the rising trend of fog. He said power generation was stalled due to intense fog and the LESCO was receiving about 1000 megawatt less than its share from the national grid. Therefore, the Company was conducing load management to keep the system stable, he added.
